# Managing Page Headers

Page headers are displayed at the top of pages across your Branch website and help create a professional, visually engaging experience for visitors.

Each page can be configured using one of three header styles:

- Image Header
- Solid Colour Header
- White Header

Choosing the right header type can help improve readability, support accessibility and make important pages easier to navigate. The website also allows headers to be updated as content changes throughout the year.

## Image Header

Image headers display a photograph behind the page title.

They work particularly well for:

- Branch Information pages
- Event pages
- Camping pages
- Training pages
- Landing pages

Image headers help create visual interest and can showcase the activities taking place within your Branch - However, care must be taken to ensure that image headers remain accessible and easy to read, always remember the header text will be white, so consider using simple, darker imagery to maintain contrast.

## Solid Colour Header

Solid colour headers provide a cleaner, simpler appearance. Allowing you to pick from 6 Pony Club Brand colours.

They work particularly well for:

- Information pages
- Committee pages
- Resource pages
- General Branch content

They also ensure excellent readability on all devices.

## White Header

White headers provide the most formal appearance.

They are ideal for:

- Rules and regulations
- Official notices
- Governance information

## Updating a Header

To change a page header image:

1. Log in to WordPress.
2. Navigate to the page you wish to update.
3. Select **Edit Page**.
4. Click Meta Boxes - and locate the **Page Header** settings
5. Choose your desired header type, and if required select an image
6. Remember to Save your changes!

## Choosing Effective Header Images

When selecting a header image, choose photographs that:

✅ Are high quality and in focus

✅ Remain clear on desktop and mobile devices

✅ Represent The Pony Club positively

✅ Complement the page content

Examples include:

- Rally photographs

## Recommended Image Sizes

For the best results:

- Use landscape photographs.
- Use high-resolution images.
- Optimise large files before uploading.
- Avoid stretching small images to fit larger areas.

The recommended image size of approximately **3840 × 1200 pixel** works best for image headers.
